Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
We respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes what data we collect when you use the Assumptions app, how we use it, and your choices. By using the App, you agree to this policy. Our Terms of Service also apply.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Account and profile
- Source: You, when you sign in (e.g., with Google) and set up your profile.
- Data: Email address, display name, and unique user ID from your sign-in provider; username and display username you choose in the App.
- Where it’s stored: Firebase Authentication; Firestore

2.2 Debate and conversation data
- Source: Your use of debates and related features.
- Data: Debate results (scores, topic, difficulty, timestamps), conversation transcripts (messages you and the AI exchange), and related metadata (e.g., debate ID, user ID).
- Where it’s stored: Firestore (
debate_results,conversation_history). Conversation history is linked to your user ID.
2.3 Challenge progress
- Source: Your use of Challenges.
- Data: Progress (e.g., levels completed, scores, challenge IDs).
- Where it’s stored: Firestore

2.4 Statistics and aggregates
- Source: We (or our systems) derive this from your use.
- Data: Aggregated stats (e.g., running averages for civility, listening, counterpoints; total debates). Stored under your user document (e.g.,
users/{userId}/stats/debate). - Where it’s stored: Firestore.
2.6 AI (OpenAI)
- Source: When you send a message in a debate, we send it to OpenAI to generate the AI’s response.
- Data: Your debate messages (and necessary context, e.g., topic, difficulty) are processed by OpenAI. We do not control OpenAI’s systems; their Privacy Policy and Usage Policies apply to that processing. We do not use your content to train OpenAI’s general models under our current agreement.
2.7 Advertising (Google AdMob)
- Source: AdMob when we show ads in the App.
- Data: Ad identifiers (e.g., advertising ID), device type, and similar data used to show and measure ads. AdMob may collect data per Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Your choices: You can limit ad tracking in your device settings (e.g., “Opt out of Ads Personalization” on Android). Premium users do not see banner ads.
2.8 In-app purchases (Google Play)
- Source: When you make a purchase (e.g., Premium, token packs) through Google Play.
- Data: We receive purchase and entitlement state (e.g., whether you have Premium) so we can unlock features. Billing and payment data are handled by Google; Google Play’s policies apply.
2.9 Analytics and stability (if used)
- Source: Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, or similar, if we enable them.
- Data: General usage (e.g., screens, events), device type, and crash reports to help us improve the App. We do not use this to identify you personally beyond what is needed to operate the service.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use the data above to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the App (including debates, challenges, AI Personalities, Today's News, scoring, and history).
- Authenticate you and manage your account and profile.
- Send your messages to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate debate responses.
- Show and measure ads (where applicable) and manage in-app purchases.
- Comply with law, protect our rights, and enforce our Terms of Service and Civil Discourse Guidelines.
- Run analytics and fix issues (where we use such tools).
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your debate or conversation content to train general-purpose AI models.
4. Sharing and Disclosure
We may share data:
- Service providers: With vendors that help us run the App (e.g., Google/Firebase for hosting and auth, OpenAI for AI, AdMob for ads). They process data on our behalf under contracts that limit use to providing the service.
- Legal: When required by law, court order, or to protect our or others’ rights, safety, or property.
- Business transfer: In connection with a merger, sale, or other transfer of our assets, under confidentiality and consistent with this policy.
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
5. Data Retention
- Account and profile: Retained while your account exists. After you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your profile and, where feasible, linked data (e.g., debate results, conversation history, challenge progress) within a reasonable period, except where we must retain for law, dispute, or safety.
- AI provider: We do not control OpenAI’s retention; see their policy. We do not intentionally retain your messages on their systems beyond what is needed for the request.
- Aggregates and backups: Some anonymized or aggregated data may remain for analytics or backup; we will not use it to identify you.
6. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and correction: You can view and edit your profile (e.g., username) in the App.
- Deletion: You can delete your account in Settings. We will delete or anonymize your data as described in §5.
- Marketing: We do not send marketing emails at this time. If we do, we will offer an opt-out.
- Ads: Limit ad tracking or personalization via your device settings. Premium subscribers do not see in-app banner ads.
- Do not sell: We do not sell personal information. If that changes, we will update this policy and, where required, offer a “Do Not Sell” option.
California (CCPA/CPRA): California residents may have additional rights (e.g., knowledge, deletion, correction, opt-out of “sale”/“sharing,” non-discrimination). We do not sell or “share” for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise rights: contact us at help@bankedembers.com. We will verify your identity and respond as required by law.
EEA/UK (GDPR): If we offer the Service in the EEA or UK, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, object, and withdraw consent. Our lawful bases include: contract (to provide the App), consent (where we ask for it), and legitimate interests (e.g., security, analytics). 7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data (e.g., encryption in transit, access controls, secure cloud infrastructure). No system is fully secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you learn a child has provided us data, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. International Transfers
Our systems and service providers (e.g., Google, OpenAI) may be in the United States or other countries. If you are outside the U.S., your data may be transferred to and processed in those jurisdictions. We rely on standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions, or other lawful mechanisms where required.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy in the App and/or by email or in-app notice. The “Last updated” date will change. Your continued use after the change constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, you must stop using the App.
