Delete Your Account and Data
If you want to request that your Assumptions account and associated data be deleted, follow the steps below. This page applies to the Assumptions app (by Banked Embers) as shown on the Google Play store.
Steps to request account and data deletion
Option A: Delete from inside the app (recommended)
- Open the Assumptions app on your device.
- Go to Settings (gear or menu).
- Scroll to Delete Account and tap it.
- Confirm in the dialog. Your account and profile are deleted immediately. We also delete or anonymize your linked data (debate results, conversation history, challenge progress) where feasible, within the retention period below.
Option B: Request by email (if you can’t use the app)
If you’ve already uninstalled the app or can’t open it, you can request deletion by email:
- Send an email to help@bankedembers.com with the subject Delete my Assumptions account.
- Include the email address you use to sign in to Assumptions so we can find your account.
- We will verify your identity and process the request. We’ll confirm once deletion is complete or if we need more information.
Data that we delete
When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize the following:
- Account and profile: Your Firebase Authentication account; your user profile in our systems, including email address, display name, username, user ID, stats (e.g. debate averages), token balance, and related records (e.g.
users/{userId}and subcollections such asstats,token_transactions). - Linked data (where feasible): Your debate results (
debate_results), conversation history (conversation_history), and challenge progress (challenge_progress). We delete or anonymize these as our systems and backups allow.
Data that we may keep
We may retain data in these situations:
- Legal, dispute, or safety: Where we must retain data for legal obligations, dispute resolution, or safety (e.g. responding to legal process, enforcing our Terms of Service or Civil Discourse Guidelines). We keep it only as long as required.
- Anonymized or aggregated data: We may retain anonymized or aggregated data (e.g. for analytics or backups). We do not use it to identify you.
- Third parties: We do not control retention by our service providers. Data that has been sent to OpenAI (for AI debate responses), Google/Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Analytics), AdMob, or Google Play (purchases) is subject to their respective policies.
Retention and timing
- Account and profile: Deleted immediately when you use Delete Account in the app. If you request by email, we process within 30 days of a verified request.
- Linked data (debate results, conversation history, challenge progress): We delete or anonymize where feasible within 30–90 days after account deletion. Backups and system constraints may extend this.
- Legal or safety holds: Retained as long as required by law or for the purpose of the hold.
